Yes, your aura has a dominant color (or sometimes colors).
Your aura is not just an orb surrounding your body as people like to imagine it when hearing about it. It is an entire energy system where things like your thoughts, emotional state and spiritual advancement are encoded in.
There are colors that are present in your aura that signify all the above and in this guide, we are going to explore the 6 most common colors that might dominate your aura, their meaning and what they tell about you.

This guide is not strictly for energy healers, or people sensitive to subtle energies. It is a guide for all of you that wants to know more about yourself, and also to find out some root causes of issues that are present in their lives.
So, let’s dive in, to the wonderful world of auric colors.
What Aura Colors Can Teach Us
A Preview of Personality and Energy Signatures
Before going into the juicy details on the matter, I would like to explain some things about why knowing your color is so important. Simply put, to know your personality better and because knowledge is power, to enforce your positive traits, and resolve issues around some non-positive traits of your personality.
Let’s see some examples of what a color might mean when present in a person’s aura and is pr. Let’s take a look at the blue color. People with mostly blue color in their aura are people that are calm and love peace. These are positive traits. But if a person with a ‘blue’ personality result in seclusion to avoid conflict or is has not grown an empowered personality, will end up limiting their social interactions and secluding themselves from the joys of being around people.
The Fluid Nature of Aura Colors
Your aura is not static. It changes according to your thought patterns, your emotional state, and even the state of your spiritual advancement.
In my case, the change that the colors of my aura underwent reflected the changes in my life. My aura changed from having as dominant colors that of blue and green to a soft golden and brown one.
This meant that before this change, I would feel the need for security more than I had to, which resulted from my sensitivity to negativity and conflict. The green energy balanced things out because it connected me with nature and, in this way, grounded me to my sense of self.
But I realized that wasn’t enough. After going through a period of intense work in terms of my grounding and connection to my body, I sensed that the color brown presented itself in my aura. For me, brown feels like being connected to my, let’s say, animal self, my physicality. And this helped me a lot to ground myself.
So, if you go through a major life change, or you are healing from a physical illness, don’t be surprised to sense the prominent color of your aura shift, too.

I would also like to mention that even though I’m giving you a sort of guide about the meaning of the colors, and what they say about you, in my experience it is more important for you to intuitively understand what each color means to you rather than to rely in this guide. Approach the following information as a starting point for you to get acquainted with a concept, and then trusting your own inner wisdom when exploring auric colors.
1. Red
Grounded Power and the Challenges of Change
When the dominant color in one’s aura is red, rest assured that this person is not a person who sits quietly in a corner, not letting its presence known. We are talking about a person who is passionate, full of life, and also very in touch with their physicality.
People with the dominant color red in their aura are also ambitious and suitable for leadership roles because they can take charge of any situation that needs someone that can take initiatives.
On the flip side of the coin, we can say that people with a dominant red aura are impulsive. If a person with a “red” personality does not know how to ground their energy, instead of having a life driven by passion, they result in living a life of chaos.
How to Work With It
As I said, above grounding is especially needed for people that have “red” personalities. There are many ways for them to ground themselves, either taking walks in nature, or, as it has worked for me, try working with crystals and precious stones, like black onyx. They can also learn how to control their temper by applying conscious breathing.
Red is not an energy that needs to be tamed, but it needs to be channeled through grounding in a structured way so that it can be expressed in a safe and productive manner.
2. Orange
Creative Influence and Magnetic Presence
The color orange is an energy associated with vibrancy, aliveness and warmth. People having orange as their dominant color in their auras are people that are magnetic and charming. They are the life of the party.
But at the same time, this energy can lead to moodiness, restlessness or emotional outbursts if not directed at productive and healthy expressions.
Many times, people with “orange” personalities receive ideas through their natural ability to get easily inspired in huge amounts, that can lead them to becoming overwhelmed.
How to Channel It
For me, what would benefit people with an “orange” personality is to channel this creativity towards art or even dancing. Both are avenues for them to channel this immense need for expression, creativity, and aliveness.
Of course, you don’t have to be a fine artist or a brilliant dancer to get engaged in the above activities. Having the willingness to explore and have fun is what counts the most.
So orange is not an energy that needs to be boxed, but it needs to be expressed harmoniously.
3. Yellow
Radiance, Joy, and Inner Freedom
Yellow as a signature color in one’s aura signifies someone who is naturally joyful, optimistic, and independent. these people have a healthy sense of ego and thus operating from their truth in a very confident way.
But, this can also indicate someone who is insecure and tries to manufacture this sense of independence and confidence to hide their vulnerabilities. When “yellow” people do not confront their insecurities, and even traumas, it is best for them to learn how to deal with them, and find the light from within rather than creating a “false” one to please others.
How to Sustain It
To sustain optimism and positivity in a healthy way, I would suggest that “yellow” people to try practicing Ho’ponopono.
I have found that it is very easy for me to think in negative ways, thus diminishing my light. By applying the Ho’ponopono prayer that asks for forgiveness for not being present, sending love to any situation, and showing gratitude for what I have, I manage to get out of a vicious cycle of negative thinking.
It is also very important to understand that the yellow energy is not about being positive, and optimistic all the time, for this would cause imbalance in your emotional well-being. Trying to stay in a positive state all the time would require that you suppress other emotions that you do not find positive emotions that also have their rightful place in your psyche.
So, positivity and light should always be expressed in a way that honors your entire personality and not only the parts of you, as I described above.
4. Green
Deep Healing and the Call to Nurture
The color green is one of my favorite colors. It has been my dominant color in my energy field for quite a while. I always loved being involved in activities that had to do with nature and loved animals.
These are also characteristics of people that have dominant green energy in their auras, along with the desire to be of service. They gravitate towards professions that have to do with healing, either in traditional or alternative or even energetic ways.
But there is a cost for having deep compassion for others all the time that may lead to fatigue. “Green” people absorb the pain of others easily, because they are usually empaths. This calls for the need for them to learn how to set boundaries, and first take care of themselves and then turn their attention to others.
How to Work With It
Since green is my favorite color, I like to surround myself with it either by appreciating it visually in the greenery that surrounds my home, or during the colder months owning indoor plants. We used to have a “plant friend” in my place, that lived for many years and had been our companion, giving me so much love as if it was a pet.
So, I would encourage you to either go out in nature, either a forest or a field where the color green is prominent, or have an indoor green friend in your home.
I would also like to suggest that (because the color green is connected to healing practices) for you to engage either alternative or energy healing modalities so that you can nurture the part of you that is prone to assisting others in their own healing paths.

5. Blue
Emotional Balance and the Energy of Peace
Blue is another special color for me because it evokes peace, intuition, and wisdom. People with blue as a dominant color in their auras are excellent communicators, thinking well before speaking, and often hold space for others to express themselves, too.
“Blue” personalities are people that seek peaceful environments, value honesty, and are very empathetic.
The challenge though that people who are “blue” energetically face is the tendency to seclude themselves and avoid interactions (like the “blue” people), that often shows difficulty in communicating themselves authentically or are fearing conflict suppressing in this way to speak out their truth.
How to Cultivate It
In order to cultivate blue energy in your life, you need to take a good look at your shadow self. There are a lot of tools that can help you with that, and for me what helped me was the process of age regression where I would find the cause of emotional blocks that hindered my desire for peace and need for expression.
Another great tool for me is the use of sound healing. Since the color blue is also related to the throat chakra that is not only connected to our ability to speak but also to our ability to listen through our ears.
Listening to solfeggio frequencies has helped me a lot with calming my nervous system, and also releasing any blocks towards me being able to communicate myself free.
6. Violet
Spiritual Insight and Higher Consciousness
The presence of violet in one’s aura signifies a person who is deeply connected to the divine. It indicates a person who is in tune with their intuition and the embodiment of divine ideals.
Violet is connected to the crown chakra, and “violet” people have a very open crown chakra, something that indicates their proximity to their own souls and higher planes of reality.
But, as with any color that we discussed, violet energy when it’s dominant in one’s own aura can also cause troubles if being unchecked, like the inability to be grounded in the everyday world.
Being open to Spirit is something beautiful, but when you cannot function as a human being, it creates a great deal of imbalance between your human personality and your higher self, where you favor the latter, ignoring the needs of the former.
How to Stay Grounded
Grounding violet energy is very important, as we discussed above. One of my many grounding practices I love to do is when holding my favorite Onyx gemstone to visualize myself sitting inside the stone and absorbing its grounding quality.
Trees can also help you ground yourself. Either through hugging a tree or sitting at its roots and attuning yourself with the tree’s ability to connect with mother earth.
It is also important to set time away from consuming spiritual content, something that is just important as tuning into it, to avoid spiritual burnout.
Why Your Colors May Shift Over Time
The Aura as a Living Reflection
Your aura is not a fixed structure. It reflects your own inner state, but also how you interact with the outer world. It responds to your thoughts, emotions, and even where you’re at, you’re on your spiritual path.
In my case, many years ago, the dominant colors of my aura were blue and green. Blue, because I yearned for peace, earnest communication, and green because of my deep connection with nature.
But over the years, I had to evolve and ground myself because I was too open to the energies surrounding me being an empath. At the end, that added one more color to my energy signature, that of brown. Brown, for me, as I mentioned above, represents being in touch with your physicality, your human nature, and your “animal nature”.
Tracking Your Changes
You can learn a lot by tracking the changes in your auric field. The most common one is to keep a journal of the changes that take place in your life and then. either through your intuitive understanding of the dominant color of your aura, or a using a divination tool like the pendulum to help you if you haven’t reached that level of reading you aura intuitively, to explore the how these changes affect the colors of your aura.
I would also like to add one more tool that can help you with tracking the colors of your aura, that of aura photography. Seeing the colors of your aura “printed” on a piece of paper with your own physical eyes is a more tangible way to connect with your energy field.
Conclusion
Learning about the colors that dominate your aura is a powerful way for you to understand who you are. From the passionate color red to the spiritual qualities of violet, each color reflects how you think, feel, and at what stage of your spiritual evolution you are.
Know that your aura is not something static, it evolves as you evolve. You do not have to obsess over maintaining “colors” in your aura, but to simply acknowledge them. In this way, the more attuned you are with your general temperament through your auric colors, the more in alignment you will be with your authentic self. So, be curious, be observant, and let your aura speak to you. Until next time.
