If you’re a sensitive, intuitive, or spiritually aware person, I bet that in your life you have felt the need to find your way through the fast-paced world we are living in feeling and navigate it.

This has been my experience too for many years till I came across what is called Oracle Cards.

Person reading oracle cards.

Oracle Cards are like Tarot Cards, but they do not possess the structured form that Tarot has and are created in a more intuitive fashion. Also, Oracle Cards can be a valuable tool for people that are more open to their sensitive, empathic, and creative aspect of themselves.

Oracle Cards are like Tarot Cards, but they do not possess the structured form that Tarot has and are created in a more intuitive fashion.

In this article, I’m going to share with you what I’ve learned about the nature of the Oracle Cards, and how to tap into your inner wisdom along with the universal one. So, if you’re ready to delve into the fascinating world of Oracle Cards, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

The Soul-Led Power of Oracle Cards (What to Know Before You Begin)

Before we delve into the use of the Oracle Cards as divination tools, I would like to invite you to a deeper conversation about how your intention and your openness are more valuable than interpreting the Cards themselves.

I will also discuss how intuition plays a big role in reading Oracle Cards, how the Oracle Cards meet you at the level that you are, and how important it is to take action after you have received the information so that knowledge becomes wisdom.

Intuition is the Gateway

Working with Oracle Cards asks of you to open up to your intuition in order for you to receive the messages that each reading holds for you. But this can also work the other way around.

By sitting with the Cards that you drew from the deck, and observing either the symbols, images, or colors that are on the Cards you’re opening up to your inner wisdom in a more direct way than trying to interpret them based on the meaning that their creator intended them to have.

Energy Reflects Energy

I would also like to add the fact that after working with many Oracle Decks, I realized that each card that you draw reflects your emotional or energetic state.

This is the mirroring effect that the Oracle Cards have reflecting to you whatever lies within you and helping you unearth this in a direct and tangible way by reading them.

I would also like to add the fact that after working with many Oracle Decks, I realized that each card that you draw reflects your emotional or energetic state.

It is also important to note that if you want more accurate readings when working with them, being in a calm and collected state is paramount, in receiving clear information, because any upset or negativity will be reflected in your reading.

Wisdom Means Action

Another thing to keep in mind is that whatever message you receive while doing a reading using Oracle Cards, will just remain an intangible bunch of messages coming from the ether, if you do not take action on what you have learned, the revelations will feel like a dream that you have seen and will fade away in time without ever coming into fruition and evolving into their utmost potential.

1. Oracle Cards Are Mirrors for Your Inner Wisdom

Why the Magic Comes From You, Not the Cards

I teased above about the fact that the Oracle Cards themselves are not the sole source of guidance or, better; they are not the base origin of the said guidance. By that, I mean the Oracle Cards act more as catalysts for your own inner voice to come forth.

Even if you look at it from an animistic perspective (the idea that each thing if they’re coming either from the mineral, vegetable, or animal kingdom possesses a spirit) your Oracle deck has a unique energetic vibration, you are still the one that unlocks their full potential.

How to Use Them for Self-Inquiry and Deep Listening

Now, if you want to exercise your ability to hone into clear guidance using Oracle Decks, realize the importance of the quality of your questions that you ask before reading the Cards.

By that I mean that if you want to go deep into revealing truths about a situation or when you have the desire to explore the nature of reality, refrain yourself from asking questions that are answered with a simple “yes” or “no”. Open-ended questions like “what do I need to learn about the situation that I’m dealing with?” Or “how should I approach my relationship with…?” are more suitable when working with Oracle Cards for a more well-rounded session with them.

Now, if you want to exercise your ability to hone into clear guidance using Oracle Decks, realize the importance of the quality of your questions that you ask before reading the Cards.

Approaching the way you pose your inquiries in this way you put aside your analytical mind that is demanding clear-cut answers, and open up your right hemisphere of your brain (your intuitive and empathic part of your brain) in order for you to dive deep into listening to what the Cards have in store for you.

2. Oracle Cards Are Freer and More Intuitive Than Tarot

Understanding the Differences Between Oracle and Tarot

Oracle Cards and Tarot Cards have their own place in your divination work. Tarot Cards are more structured and rooted in deep tradition. They are good for inquiries that have to do with clear-cut answers. Oracle Decks do not possess this structured format, and that gives them the ability to offer answers to inquiries that delve into self-discovery, spiritual knowledge, and things of that nature.

In my experience, Tarot Cards have a heavier energy because of their lengthy origin, while Oracle Decks possess a “fresher” energetic constitution.

Why Oracle Decks Work Well for Sensitive or Creative Souls

Being a sensitive, and an empath myself, makes me gravitate more towards Oracle Cards than Tarot Cards. Oracle Cards assist me in approaching my psyche at a deep level, and also give me guidance about my day-to-day life in a softer way than Tarot does.

Tarot Cards feel more geared towards people that need structure, and also more precise answers and pieces of information for their questions.

3. Each Deck Has Its Own Lexicon, So Learn Its Language

What the Deck Lexicon Is and Why It Matters

As with every language spoken by people from different ethnicities, where you need to learn their language in order for you to communicate with them, so do Oracle Cards have their own language of lexicon that varies from deck to deck.

Some Decks might be geared towards specific themes like the divine feminine and masculine while others are guided by particular energetic collectives or archetypes.

Whenever I get my hands on a new deck, I first turn towards the booklet that accompanies it, in order for me to have a better understanding of the vision that its creator had when creating them. But this is the first step.

How to Connect with the Energetic Blueprint of a New Deck

The second step I take in order to familiarize myself with my new Oracle Deck is to spend some time with each card of the deck individually.

This can be done by setting some time on the side (which can be a day for each card) and starting your day focusing on a card you want to learn what it means to you on a more personal level. Then, during the day, notice any intuitive hit, insight or even synchronistic event related to the card you are working with to lead you towards its understanding. At night you can jot down notes on your experiences I just mentioned, which will lead to your own personal understanding of the meaning of the deck.

4. Oracle Cards Can Be Part of a Daily Spiritual Practice

Make Card Pulls a Sacred Ritual, Not Just a Reading

Oracle Cards are excellent tools to be incorporated into your spiritual path in general. By drawing a card each day can act as a forecast for the energetic weather that lies ahead for the rest of the day.

This practice doesn’t have to be complicated; you just need to make time for this each morning and pull a card after clearing your mind through meditation. And that’s it.

Ways to Use Oracle Cards for Energy Check-Ins

Oracle Cards can also be useful in doing an energetic check-in. My favorite spread to do that is a three-card spread.

I will set my intention about the meaning of each card with the first card to draw to symbolize how my current energetic state is, the second why I am in this state, and the third what guidance do the Cards have for me on how to approach my energy field and this state that it is in.

Oracle Cards can also be useful in doing an energetic check-in.

For a quicker check-in, you can also pull just one card, which is enough for you to have a general reading on how your emotional or energetic state is at.

5. Turn Your Insight into Aligned, Soul-Led Action

From Guidance to Growth, Taking the Next Step

Another important thing that you can take away as you read these lines is that Oracle Cards can assist you in your growth beyond just being tools for receiving answers.

Making it a habit to at least once a week or even once a month to do an in-depth reading around what are your next steps in spiritual journey, and then ground this information that you received by taking action, can become a valid path for you to connect with your soul’s purpose and making it a reality.

Conclusion

Working with Oracle Cards has been a rewarding path for me on my journey of self-discovery.

Beyond being a tool for getting answers about mundane or even advanced spiritual inquiries that you might have, they can also be a gateway of reconnecting you with the essence of your being and your higher self.

I would like to close this article by saying that if you want to make the most out of working with Oracle Cards, I would advise you to approached them in a playful manner, and be open to the surprises that they may hold for you and the growth and expansion of your consciousness that they might facilitate for you.

Till next time, take care.
