In this article, we’re going to explore how sound can help you in bringing balance both to your physical and your energetic makeup.

This guide is not a complex one, but a simple invitation for you to explore and play with sound, and how you can regain back your sense of harmony and connection to your inner being.

What You’ll Gain from Sound Healing

Restoring Inner Peace in a Noisy World

The fast pace of our culture today has led people experiencing stress to such a degree that there is no precedent in times of peace.

I’m not saying that these advancements haven’t helped people to better their lives, but they came along with a cost, the cost of being removed from our natural state of being, that of being attuned with nature and natural rhythms, and healthy vibrational states.

Sound Healing is the perfect instrument (no pun intended), to escape this noise that surrounds us and assist us in gaining back our sense of centeredness.

Sound can act as an anchor do your body, your basic human needs, that the distraction of modern life has robbed you.

Sound Healing is the perfect instrument (no pun intended), to escape this noise that surrounds us and assist us in gaining back our sense of centeredness.

You don’t have to invest in fancy instruments, like singing balls, frame drums etc. to begin your journey of inviting sound as the recalibrating agent in your life. Nowadays, you can find for free audio tracks that are designed to work with many issues that Sound Healing can help you with.

In the future, after you’ve been acquainted with this healing modality, if you choose, you can invest in working with physical instruments in order to deepen your relationship with sound and its beneficial effects that it can have on you.

Releasing Old Energy and Opening New Pathways

I remember when I started channeling the Akashic Records (a “library” based on the etheric plane that contains every possible knowledge that someone can obtain), I experienced the resistance of not letting myself being open in receiving the wisdom of the records.

And here was where the Solfeggio Frequencies came in. This set of sounds vibrates in a specific frequency, (as their name suggests) ranging from that of 174 Hz to 963 Hz. The term Hz represents the smallest unit of a frequency.

So, I turned towards audio meditations which reach in the frequency of 396 Hz, which helps to release fear resistance and other emotional blocks. So, each time I would connect with the Akashic Records, I would start by listening to the audio for some minutes and then proceed doing my work.

This is how sound helped me release negativity, and so it can help you. Emotional blockages like grief, fear, unexpressed emotions even though difficult to access and be accepted by your rational mind as it tends to avoid pain, with Sound Healing this process can come in a milder and gentler way for you to work with those blockages and release them.

Awakening Your Inner Wisdom and Spiritual Awareness

I would also like to briefly mention that beyond (as I discussed above with my experiences in channeling the Akashic Records) using sound in specific ways like in Sound Healing can also help you open up to higher dimensions and connect with your higher self.

As a channeler, I’m deeply aware of the fact that everything material exists first as energy vibration at the higher planes of reality. So do my words (voiced or written) as I channel. They are the manifestation of energetic downloads, carrying the signature of the source I’m connected with and am receiving its transmissions.

This can work in the other way around. Sound is just air which vibrates in a certain frequency, and that frequency carries information that can affect your physical body, and consequently your energetic one, which is closely connected to it.

In this way, using tools like singing bowls, gongs, chimes, you can set your energy field in such a way so that you are receptive to your inner wisdom and the gentle guidance coming from spirit.

5 Ways Sound Healing Can Help You

1. Sound Healing Supports Pain Relief Through Resonance

I lately have been experiencing an issue with my knee (my left knee, to be exact) where a persistent dull pain gave me great discomfort. So in the spirit of writing this article, I tested how sound can help me reduce the pain, which is something that I came across a lot as a topic while browsing YouTube videos.

I put my headphones on and listened to a session of Theta binaural beats, where Theta is a state where the brainwaves vibrate in the frequency of four to six Hz that can be measured with a device with the fancy name that of electroencephalogram or EEG.

After 10 minutes, to my surprise, I experience a noticeable decrease of the pain that my left knee was experiencing.

Sound healers believe that each part of your body and the cells that they are made of, when in a healthy condition, vibrate at a certain frequency. When this frequency is disturbed (and the same goes with the energy body or aura of your being where when healthy also “vibrates” in certain energetic frequencies when you are healthy) that part whose frequency has been disturbed ends up sick.

Sound healers believe that each part of your body and the cells that they are made of, when in a healthy condition, vibrate at a certain frequency.

Using the right sound can promote physical healing, which is especially important for people suffering from chronic diseases that cause pain, aiding them in managing their pain and thus reducing their reliance on painkillers.

2. Sound Healing Calms the Mind and Regulates the Nervous System

As mentioned, several times in this article, sound can also help you calm your mind and your nervous system.

There is a scientific term called brainwave entrainment that is one way that sound can calm your brain. What does brainwave entrainment mean in Sound Healing?

As I mentioned above, our brain vibrates at a certain range of brainwaves when measured, and each type of brainwave represents a state where the brain is. When we are stressed, our brain is in a state called Beta state brainwave, which is around 14 Hz. This is the state of everyday functioning, but also a state where you are susceptible to overstimulation and stress.

When you listen to audio with sounds of a certain frequency for a period, your brain starts to vibrate at the same frequency. So sounds rich in frequencies called Alpha, or Theta, can help you enter a deep meditative state and thus releasing tension from your nervous system.

3. Sound Healing Encourages Emotional Release and Flow

Emotions are meant to be experienced and then released. But in today’s society, we are encouraged to suppress them and thus stuffing them in our unconscious, which then translates into emotional blockages nested in various parts of our bodies.

Emotions are meant to be experienced and then released.

Even neuroscientists have discovered that when experiencing emotions, our brains release chemicals that are not only affect how our brains operate but are also dispersed throughout our bodies, and bind to the receptors that cells have for them, affecting you also physically.

But, going back to sound, I can attest that from my experience, the ability for it to release emotions. One time I was meditating I chanted the seed sounds of the heart chakra “Yam”, (each chakra has a seed syllable that helps them be restored back to balance when chanted) and after toning it for a few minutes I felt an expansion and release in the area of my heart.

But you don’t have to chant any mantra in order to benefit from sound to release stuck emotions. Letting yourself being exposed in a safe environment to healing sounds can do great good to your emotional body.

4. Sound Healing Transforms Consciousness and Expands Insight

Another jaw-dropping experience that I had through sound was when I listened to a YouTube video by a very knowledgeable lady in Sound Healing playing with several gongs. Immediately I felt as if I was shifting dimensions and stargates were opening.

What I am trying to day here is that you can also experience expansions of your consciousness through sound. I would suggest to start with the use of frame drums, which when producing beats around 3 to 4 Hz they can attune your brain to the Theta state which is one of the many gateways to expanded states of consciousness.

5. Sound Healing Helps You Reconnect with Your True Essence

My favorite way to slip into the silence of my inner world is by chanting the universal sound “Om”. This ancient sound helps me to connect what’s my true essence, and you don’t have to chant as I mentioned above, to experience this reconnection with your essence.

I feel that based on all the above information on how to use Sound Healing, leads you to one thing; moving into a deep stillness for you to open up overtime to your true nature that lies beyond thoughts, and even sound.

Making Sound Healing a Personal Practice

How to Begin: Exploring Simple Tools and Sessions

I would like to encourage you not to go out of your way to obtain and seek for Sound Healing tools (crystal balls, chimes etc.) to start your journey on Sound Healing. For me, what helped was just perusing YouTube videos and listening to any of them made from Sound Healing meditations.

My favorite videos are the ones are playing sounds based on the Solfeggio Frequencies. But you don’t have to start with that.

You can try out free audio files that are circulating the internet with healing sounds either produced digitally or recordings of sounds made from Sound Healing tools. Having listened to enough audio meditations will help you choose what works for you in terms of the frequencies and vibrations of sound you enjoy, and find that mostly helps you.

The Role of Intention and Receptivity in Your Healing

As with any energy healing modalities I described in my other articles, intention is a paramount element of the success of any treatment. Sound Healing in that regard and is close to how energy healing works.

If you are dealing with issues that need your attention, I would suggest that before any Sound Healing treatment (either in the hands of a practitioner, or by listening to healing audios on your own), to set your intention beforehand. You can, for instance, use affirmations, saying them out loud or inwardly that will cultivate the positive state of being. For example, you can say “I am now open to peace”, or “I’m now ready to release field and unnecessary”.

This practice might sound simple, but it’s very effective for you to set a good foundation for the success for any session.

Choosing the Right Sound Healing Tools

Overview of Instruments for Beginners

There are a lot of Sound Healing tools in the market like Tibetan singing bowls, framed drums, chimes and the list goes on, and a beginner might get overwhelmed in terms of which to choose.

My advice is, before purchasing anything, you need to know if it is the right fit for you. I would suggest listening to audio in a digital form with the recordings of any healing sound tool you’re interested in, so that you can test the waters and see if the sound that the tool is producing is right for you.

How to Choose Based on Your Energy Needs

You can also choose which sound is right for you, based on what your needs. I, whenever I need grounding after an intense energy work, might resort to sounds that are of low frequency, and beats of slow rhythm.

A simple way for you to come from this place of discernment is to tune into how your body is feeling. Do you feel heaviness in your chest? Or are you experiencing mental fog?

For example, sounding a chime helps to uplift you energetically and lightens the mood. But if the need is to clear a heavier emotional blockage, playing a frame drum could be of the most use.

However, you approach in deciding which tool can help you in your Sound Healing journey, let your inner wisdom guide you, and also experiment and in order for you to see what fits you.

Conclusion

Sound Healing is not just another wellness gimmick. It is not meant only for relaxation, for you to keep up with the frantic rhythms of the modern way of living. It can help you go deep into the roots of who you are, restore balance, hope, unlock potential, and most importantly to sit in their eye of the storm as an observer, making you the wise person who can navigate the chaos of contemporary living and thrive.

Till next time, take care.
